Why So Much Mystery and so Little Proof in Esoterics?

by Michele

I have had the peace of mind to start my minicourse and its' lessons. I must say that the info. here presented is very profound and requires much attention and intelligence. I have done my very best to stay focused and aware, but inevitably, ask myself such questions as…

Why is it that mankind's general level of consciousness has not been properly developed for centuries? Why have we attained advanced knowledge in science and technology but ceased to develop consciousness regarding the self?

My point is... What's the point in learning about the knowledge of reality as presented when we cannot learn to govern our mind and our reality?

Why is there so much mystery involved in esoterics and very little (surprisingly little) proof of its positive results.

I must confess I do not understand how life in the here and now functions and all outcomes become a question with no satisfactory answer.

How can I change my life, control my mind in pursuit of peace and happiness and live a peaceful fulfilling life without the common struggle?

Can anyone help me obtain an answer to these important yet simple questions?

I hope I hope to receive a comforting answer.

Michele

Michele,

My suggestion, for what it's worth, is to continue with your studies. A great many of your questions are more than adequately covered in the works of HTL (Henry T. Laurency) and LA (Lars Adelskogh) if you will but take the time to study them, thoroughly. I know that it can be hard when you are first starting out - after all, no one wants to waste their precious time studying what ends up being just more mumbo-jumbo, but - the problem is - in a sense, you never really get to know the temperature of the water without getting your feet wet, first.

Seeing as you are clearly a new-comer to Pythagorean Hylozoics, I might suggest that you take a gander at LA’s book, "The Explanation" which is available for free as a PDF on the same website as the one hosting HTL’s books and papers. In my own experience, LA’s book, "The Explanation" is much easier to read and digest for new-comers than HTL’s books and papers. As such, it is a very good starting point that might help to ease you into Pythagorean Hylozoics and answer some - if not all - of your questions. You could try reading LA’s book alongside HTL’s books and papers (especially, "The Knowledge of Reality" sections 1.4 - 1.41 [the "shorter catechism" of Pythagorean Hylozoics]), or you could read LA’s book first and then start HTL’s books and papers - either way would be fine. It is more a matter of personal preference, honestly.

Originally, I wrote a four page response to this post; however, I have since decided that - for the time being - this is more than enough.

Thanks for your time,

Sincerely,

Fr. E.S.Q.S.

Life is meant to be a struggle
by: Roy

Dear Michele

Thank you for being so open and posting your thoughts.

I would like to suggest to you that life is a grand University, and that each life we live represents just one of so many lessons that we must take before graduating to the next level, or true enlightenment if you will.

I too once felt so very frustrated like you sound in your comments. But I've come to realise that those struggles in life that we all have to endure, which I once considered to be a bane, eventually I found to be a boon. The greatest lessons I've learned in life are those relating to my own personal struggles, and I have heard many other people say very much the same thing.

Now it isn't some much the struggle that is important, whatever way that manifests, rather it is that we must learn from those experiences, to develop experiential understanding, to ennoble our emotions, to sharpen our intellect etc. When you come to realise that an undisciplined mind is the biggest hindrance spiritual maturity, you will resolve to gradually strengthen your will to bring your mind under control, especially emotionality which is the cause of so much human misery.

I appreciate your frustration that there is so very little obvious empirical evidence to support the esoteric perspective, but gradually mankind is beginning to discover the rudiments of these teachings through scientific discoveries, Quantum physics being a good example.

Henry T Laurency tells us in his writings that for many of us who have recently embarked upon this journey, most of this subject matter will have to remain a faith system to us because we simply do not have objective consciousness that will enable us to verify the teachings for ourselves. But in due time, when we are ready, these things will be revealed to us; "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

We cannot change that which we are unaware of, so if I may I would therefore suggest that you develop a healthy and keen sense of personal awareness, to watch your thoughts and especially the true inner motives that give birth to them and your behaviours.

For good reason our evolutionary journey is a very long one indeed, but one that is assured, as is out ultimate destiny - to become a God. Hence, in order to become like the Gods we must be patient as they are, for they have all eternity, as in truth do we ourselves.

Peace be with you.
